FGD4/A0470

FGD4, also known as A0470, is a protein that contains 766 amino acids. FGD4 is found in brain, thymus, lung, heart, skeletal muscle, small intestine, liver, kidney, spleen and testis tissue.

FGD4, also known as A0470, is a protein that contains 766 amino acids. FGD4 is found in brain, thymus, lung, heart, skeletal muscle, small intestine, liver, kidney, spleen and testis tissue. It plays a role in regulating the actin cytoskeleton and cell shape. FGD4 is expressed in embryonic, postnatal, and adult stages of mouse nerve tissue. The lower expression of FDG4 in postnatal and adult tissues, when compared to embryonic tissue points to a role for FDG4 in early stages of myelination. Over-expression of FGD4 in mouse fibroblasts and monkey kidney cells has been found to cause a change in cell shape and bring about the activation of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK). In humans, defects in FGD4 are the cause of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. Fgd4 is expressed in embryonic, postnatal, and adult stages of mouse nerve tissue.
