Tight junction protein 1 (TJP1, also known as A0086), is a 200 kDa protein found at cytoplasmic membranes co-located with intercellular tight junctions.
Tight junction protein 1 (TJP1, also known as A0086), is a 200 kDa protein found at cytoplasmic membranes co-located with intercellular tight junctions. TJP1 is encoded on human chromosome 15q13 and may be involved in signal transduction. The TJP1 protein has been shown to interact directly or indirectly with members of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor complex. Mutations have been noted in the context of non-neural somatic tissues and cancer metastases.
