DUSP4/A0287

Dual specificity protein phosphatase 4 (DUSP4, also known as A0287) is found on human chromosome 8 and is 394 amino acid long.

Dual specificity protein phosphatase 4 (DUSP4, also known as A0287) is found on human chromosome 8 and is 394 amino acid long. It belongs to the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) phosphatase family. DUSP4 is involved in feedback control of MAPK-mediated gene expression. It specifically hydrolyzes the phosphothreonine and phosphotyrosine amino acids of the activated MAPKs extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) ERK1 and ERK2, for which it has high substrate specificity. DUSP4 is localized to the nucleus and regulates mitogenic signal transduction. The N-terminal region of DUSP4 displays sequence identity to the cell cycle regulator, CDC25 phosphatase.
