A0476

The A0476 is a protein with 204 amino acids that weighs 22.1 kDa and the gene is located on chromosome 19 in humans.

The A0476 is a protein with 204 amino acids that weighs 22.1 kDa and the gene is located on chromosome 19 in humans. It is widely expressed and is found on the mitochondrial outer membrane, but moves to the cytosol after phosphorylation. A0476 appears to link growth factor pathways, for example interleukin 3, and proteins such as BCL-X, involved in apoptosis (programmed cell death). In its unphosphorylated state it is pro-apoptotic, but following phosphorylation at several serine amino acids this activity is blocked, promoting cell survival as the phosphorylation causes release of the anti-apoptotic protein, BCL-X. It also appears to have a tumor suppressing function. A0476 knock-out mice are viable and do not display a neuronal phenotype. 204 amino acids, 22.1 kDa. Gene located on chromosome 19. 204 residues, 22.1 KDal. Gene located on chromosome 19.
